On 15 and 16 June, 2017 the General Commission on Bioethics met for the second time in 2017 at the General Curia. It was attended by Bro. José M. Bermejo (Commission President); Bro. Benigno Ramos; Dr Salvino Leone; Dr Maria Teresa Iannone; Dr Silvia Oger ; Dr Jorgen Wallner ; Sr Margarita Bofarull; Dr Mathew JACOB e Bro. André Sène (Commission Secretary). Bro. Patrick and Dr. Corinna Porteri sent apologies.

Bro. José María BERMEJO opened the meeting and welcomed all the members.

The Commission then addressed, among other things, the abstracts which had been sent in by the Order’s Provinces and Centres which will have to be presented at the World Bioethics Congress Madrid (Spain) on 11-14 September 2017. The Commission urged the Provinces and Centres of the Order that had not yet done so, to register promptly for the Congress in order to give everyone the opportunity to receive formation and information on the most topical ethical and bioethical issues. He also reviewed the work done in the Regions in the past few months and spoke about issue no. 8 of the Bioethics Digital Journal which the Commission will be responsible for coordinating it. The Commission also reminded everyone visiting the General Curia website that they can now consult the first 3 issues of the Journal already published.
